About us

In the mid-1970s we both became engaged in the construction of Hurdy Gurdies and built our first instruments in 1978. We then stopped making instruments for almost four decades. After retiring from working as a vocational teacher (Gerd) and as a geodesist for satellite navigation (Georg), we now very much enjoy having returned to the construction of Hurdy Gurdies. The driving forces of our recent activities were Kurt Reichmann and Peter Streng. In particular Peter impressed us with an outstanding new instrument design. Contributing to that with humble innovative ideas is our mission, producing, testing and playing with them is our pleasure. However, we are not professional luthiers but amateurs.
