Engaging/disengaging melody strings

Our instruments come with a special system for engaging/disengaging the hurdy-gurdy melody strings in a fast and convenient way. The string engaging/disengaging mechanism has the form of a crankshaft and is installed at the end of the tangent box. Part of it is a small gear wheel with a counterpart sliding underneath the lid of the tangent box. A rippled longish sliding controller is attached which is operated with the thumb. Playing melody strings in Fully Dynamic or Static mode by fixing or releasing the wheel holder is optional.
