Pushing Keys

When playing, keys fall back to their off position due to gravity.
One can speed up this process either by using a pulling spring or by two complementary pushing magnets.
  • Here is a YouTube example from Kostya Zholobev using springs.
  • And here is a YouTube example from Cesar Loureiro Sobral who uses magnets.
We implemented a variation of Cesar's solution - for test purposes for one key only.
The cube-shaped magnet sticks to the side of the key box. The column-shaped magnet is adjustable embedded in the key.
Now the instrument can be played lying flat. Advantage: you can also use your thumb to play. Is it worth the effort? It depends.
